Let’s be real … how many of ya’ll prefer film over digital? It’s two completely different processes that consist of different talents. When I studied film photography in school, I was blown away. The different types of cameras, the different processes, it was all so magnificent to say the least. Bree is an awesome Documentary Film Photographer. It takes patience to learn your camera, and the processes that come with it & she makes it look easy. When you shoot with a film camera, you can’t see the photos. You have to develop them to see the outcome & I love that about the process. It’s like unfolding a mystery.
” Live the full life of the mind, exhilarated by new ideas, intoxicated by the romance of the unusual.” – Ernest Hemingway
I love how her work reflects the rawness, and beauty in her subjects. You can feel the emotions flow through your veins. It’s almost like you were there with her. She shoots a lot of her work in Harlem, a neighborhood that’s full of so much character. Chi Modu is another documentary film photographer, his work is phenomenal. We had the privilege of meeting him a few years back at one of his books signings. His work reminds me a lot of Brees work, their styles are very similar.
I know one day I’ll be at her book signing. I see her doing great things with her work and touching so many souls. She is an amazing photographer who isn’t afraid to embrace her authenticity and her love for photography.
