If you would’ve told me even just a year ago that I’d be featured in a magazine like CreativPaper, I’d have thought you were crazy.
How many of you are your own worst critic?
I bet all of you right … because I know I have always been MY worst critic. That’s why it took me SO long to go out on my own. I was always nervous to branch out & challenge myself. It surprises me because I always love a challenge, I believe that nothing easy is ever worth it. There’s always something to learn with every lesson that comes to you.
CreativPaper is an art magazine based in the UK. They have a variety of different creatives & their art displayed throughout the magazine. When I was contacted by James & Jefferson about 2 years ago, I didn’t know what to think. Of course I did my research first to make sure this was actually real because come on ! a magazine who is also eco – friendly was too good to be true. Thank god I was wrong.
In 2015 the founder of CreativPaper James (Jimmy) Outhwaite started an instagram page during a difficult period in his life. He was getting bullied at work, and struggling with his mental health. Jimmy wanted an outlet where he could talk about art, the people behind the artwork and photography. He also talked about topics that were, and still are close to his heart. The environment, homophobia & animal rights. As the instagram grew in size, Jimmy branched out, and turned CreativPaper into a digital magazine in 2017. Their first issue was released, and they received a really positive response. I mean why wouldn’t they, the magazine is pretty dang awesome. Fast forward 17 issues & 3 years later the magazine is thriving. They have signed media partnerships with Art Paris, Art Dubai, and LA Art Show. Their readership is growing, and they have more exciting projects in the works.
It has been an amazing journey working with Jimmy & Jefferson. The first issue I was showcased in, I did a small interview with Jefferson. I felt that it was a great way for people to see my work, and get to know who I am as an individual. Throughout my time collaborating with CreativPaper, I have also grown a great bond with them. I finally got to meet Jimmy & Jefferson through a Whatsapp video call a few weeks ago. It was a long time in the making but God does everything in his own timing. Suffice to say it was a great call. They’re two of the best people you could ever meet, and work with. I do hope you have a chance to work with them, you will not regret it.
